Why Viagra might not be working for you?

Taking Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction is not always effective, with some men still experiencing symptoms of erectile dysfunction after using the medication.

In order to understand why Viagra does not always work, it is important to understand how the product helps men increase their sexual performance. Like most organs in the body, the penis needs a constant supply of oxygenated blood in order to function. Viagra increases blood flow to the blood vessels in the penis making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection when sexually stimulated.

Most of the time Viagra works very well in helping men in the bedroom, however recent studies have shown that about 30% of men who use the medication do not experience the full effects.

There are several reasons as to why this drug may not work to the best of its ability, which could be because of;

An incorrect dosage for the individual

Common sildenafil prescriptions for treating erectile dysfunction come in a range of doses, starting at 20mg and moving upwards to 100mg. If the current dose is not working to its full potential for an individual, a higher dose may be necessary, shown in recent years that a higher dose of Viagra, increases the effectiveness of the product.

Of course, speak with our medical professional before increasing any prescription dosage.

Improper consumption for the medication

In order to experience its full effectiveness, Viagra needs to be taken with the correct measures to successfully treat erectile dysfunction. Taking the medication on a full stomach can delay the body’s absorption, making it much less effective. This absorption can delay the effects the medication has, making the erection experience occur much later than expected, as well as weaker, and shorter than it was expected.

In addition to a full stomach, taking the medication after consuming alcohol can significantly reduce the effects of the drug. Alcohol is a substance that when consumed enough, reduces blood flow throughout the entire body, allowing less blood flow to reach the penis. This reduction of blood flow decreases the chance of an individual experiencing and maintaining an erection.

Consider psychological factors

A common cause of erectile dysfunction can be related to psychological factors rather than physical. Sexual performance anxiety can be a strong factor resulting in individuals feeling nervous and anxious before, or during sex, causing the erection to decrease in strength.

It is known that Viagra is a common treatment for erectile dysfunction, but it is not always effective when anxiety makes its way into the bedroom. When an individual finds themselves with another person in a sexual environment, the sexual anxiety will take over and the arousal will decrease. If this is an ongoing occurrence, there is no certainty that Viagra will be as effective as it is supposed to be.

At this point in time, if the occurrence of sexual anxiety is common, it would be best to talk to a doctor about treatments that can help build confidence in the bedroom.

Maybe Viagra is just not the right medication

To simply put it, Viagra just may not be the right medication for you. There are other prescriptions and methods that can be used to treat erectile dysfunction such as Cialis (tadalafil), erectile pumps. There are other drugs that can be delivered by injection such as alprostadil, and sonic therapy.

Though there is no certainty that these additional methods will be effective and successful. But there is no harm in trying out new treatments so you can be sexually active and performing the way you want to be.
